Julie + Tim | A Gorgeous November Wedding

Julie and Tim planned their late November wedding hoping that the weather would cooperate and it wouldn't rain or be a bazillion degrees below freezing.   Mother nature delivered them the very best wedding gift - temps of 14+ and the most beautiful, soft light we've ever had on a wedding day.  Poor Tim wasn't feeling well and for two days leading up to the wedding he was feverish and had laryngitis.  Julie said that if he just stood at the alter and nodded through his vows she'd be okay with that - luckily, he did get his voice back in time for the ceremony.  He smiled and still had the time of his life, it was his wedding day after all and no cold or flu was going to dampen his spirits.  Julie looked radiant in her gown as did all of her bridesmaids.  We headed to the Hermitage in Ancaster for their photo session.  Brian and I love shooting there among the ruins.  Their Same Day Edit was a huge hit -- as our last SDE of 2011 we are proud to share it here.  A full post of photos will come a little later - stay tuned!

Excellent video. Ignoring the fact that it was put together in a few hours the quality of the shots and the flow of the video were amazing. Elysia + Matt | Copper Creek Wedding

The very first time I met Elysia and Matt I could tell the chemistry and connection between them was something very special.  We met in LIberty Village at Starbucks back in April 2010 to chat a little about their upcoming wedding day and a lot about them as a couple.  I loved how they naturally turned towards each other mid sentence, smiled and then continued on, many times completing each other's sentences.  They laughed while sharing stories about dating and how they met and as time passed their smiles seemed to grow bigger and bigger.  I somehow felt like we'd known each other for years instead of just an hour or so.  Elysia confessed that she had already been a fan of our work for quite some time and was so excited for it to finally be "her turn".  When we met again a couple months before the wedding they said they were both so excited for their same day edit.  We knew they loved soulful songs with powerful lyrics so we chose Hesitate by Steve Moakler (this song is used with permission from Steve Moakler).  We've loved this song for so long and we were waiting for the perfect couple and the perfect wedding story to use it.  I really think we spend more time looking for amazing songs than we do anything else.  Music is so important because it becomes the soundtrack to each couple's wedding story.  It was a pleasure shooting alongside Taylor Jackson.  We can't wait to see these two again when their feature film is ready and hear all about their amazing, adventurous honeymoon.

Heather + James | Engagement Story + Same Day Edit

Yesterday was the most beautiful November day.  The sun shone all day long and made the autumn leaves, still left clinging to the trees, almost sparkle.  It really felt more like a late September day and we were fortunate to spend it capturing the wedding story of Heather and James.  I'm convinced that when these two are together they make every day feel warm and cozy.  We knew from our very first meeting with them many months ago that their wedding story would be very special.  When they shared their proposal story with us and told us they had some actual footage from the top of Blackcomb in Whistler we knew we wanted to somehow incorporate that into their Same Day Edit.  We love how they both grin from ear to ear when they look at each other and how much they both positively beam when speaking about the other.  James is an identical twin and I worried that we wouldn't be able to tell him and his brother apart, but as long as Heather wasn't too far away you could definitely tell which one was James - his eyes would sparkle, just like the autumn leaves.  I am not sure we've ever seen a groom get this emotional at the first sight of his bride.  It was beautiful to witness James waiting for Heather at the alter.  There were so many fabulous and intimate details that I loved about their day, but my favourite was the fireworks during the reception, which were truly incredible.  Unfortunately, they happened after the same day edit was shown, but they will definitely be a special part of their feature film.  We were reminded once again last night right after the same day edit why we do what we do.  Being the keeper of memories never gets old and our passion for capturing stories about love only gets stronger and stronger.

Lauren + Dean | I can't believe he kept them...

Over the past 14 months we've had the pleasure of spending quite a bit of time with Lauren and Dean.  They asked us to capture their engagement story as well as their wedding story so last Autumn we spent a few hours hanging out on a beautiful fall day while the leaves were changing colour and separately they each told us about their first time meeting, the proposal and what they were most looking forward to about their wedding day.  A few months later when the spring bulbs were blooming we got together again for more engagement photos and we had a nice lunch together in Niagara on the Lake.  Last Saturday their big day finally arrived.  Brian and I were so excited because we knew how amazing it would be.  Their same day edit would be extra special because it was including their engagement story and we were going to tie together some of the audio from their engagement story with their wedding story footage.  Their wedding party was a lot of fun and honestly there is no better feeling than being treated like family by everyone on the wedding day.  The creative freedom that they left in our hands meant that we could choose the photo shoot locations and accompanying music for their Same Day Edit - we love that our couples trust us completely and feel this really allows us to give them our very best work.  
Here is their same day edit with engagement story, we hope as the years pass this will become such a precious keepsake to remember their wedding day!  A full post of photos coming soon!

Melissa + Derrick | A Wedding Story | Mississauga

Last Saturday we had the absolute pleasure of capturing Melissa and Derrick's wedding story.  These two are the sweetest people - EVER!  I fell in love with Derrick's sense of humour months ago when we hung out for a few hours during their engagement session.  After seven years together his cute smile still makes Melissa's heart melt.  I love how emotional she was coming down the isle to her soon-to-be husband.  I love the little whispers that they shared during the ceremony and I'm incredibly thankful our audio sources captured these moments so they will have them forever! Just before the reception they asked me what the name of the same day edit song was and I knew they didn't really want to know, they were just trying to see if I would tell them.  The surprise of hearing a new song along with watching their wedding story unfold, surrounded by their family and friends, was truly the highlight of the entire day and I knew how excited they were because all day long they kept saying "we can't wait to see the same day edit".  This is a gorgeous capture of their day and I'm so proud to share it here with everyone - even those that don't know Melissa and Derrick personally will feel they know them after watching this.  A full post of photos coming soon.  We wish them a lifetime of love and happily ever after!
